Roomchang earns international accreditation for dental quality a sixth time

Posted 6 March 2014

In late December last year, after three days of evaluation by Bureau Veritas, a global leader in testing, inspection and certification (TIC), Roomchang Dental Hospital was awarded an ISO 9001:2008 (UKAS Accreditation) for the sixth time in a row. “This achievement is recognition of Roomchang’s competitive advantages in the market, and complements the enormous skills of its dentists and technical staff,” says hospital director Dr. Tith Hongyoeu.

The ISO certification is based mostly on management competency, and in 2008 Roomchang was the first dental clinic in the Kingdom to be granted ISO 9001 certification. “We have worked hard to maintain international-level dental care standards, and have gained the trust of increasing numbers of new patients every year,” Tith says. “As we consider our patients the core of our business, Roomchang has become a premier dental service provider, with excellent customer service and high professional standards.”

Roomchang employs a large number of expert dentists, and is housed in a modern, 10-story dental hospital in central Phnom Penh. It is equipped with advanced dental technologies, including CAD-CAM E4D, 3D CBCT X-ray and autoclave sterilization. It also has a social mission and is involved in various charities.

“Since 2007, Roomchang staff have donated hundreds of hours of their time and expertise in a series of free mobile clinic drives throughout Cambodia, tending to hundreds of patients ever day,” Tith says. “Also, in December 2013, our staff donated blood to Kantha Bopha Hospital to coincide with the Roomchang Dental Hospital’s second year anniversary celebrations.”

Roomchang started life as a boutique dental clinic in 1996, moving into its 10-story dental hospital two years ago. Currently around 40% of its patients are foreigners, with a growing number of people travelling from overseas to undergo dental treatment due to high costs of dental treatment in their own countries. Asked what the future holds, Tith says: “We will focus on pursuing any additional certifications to make Roomchang a serious destination, not just in Cambodia, but throughout the region.”

Bureau Veritas is a certifying body that is recognised by more than 50 national and international accreditation bodies. According to its website, it offers a wide range of accreditation that ensure safety-assurance processes and asset availability performance, covering a broad range of industries.
