Open Bite (malocclusion)

A 26 year old, male patient came to Roomchang with a severe protrusion and open bite (malocclusion). When biting, his back teeth would touch and his front teeth would remain open as shown in (fig. 1). He had an existing pontic bridge on teeth #12 to #22 that can be seen on the initial X-ray (fig. 2) and (fig. 3).

Orthodontic treatment was started to widen the space at the missing tooth #11. (fig 3) This allowed the placing of an implant. It also corrected the open bite and the protrusion. Once the implant was placed (fig 4), temporary crowns were cemented and the orthodontic treatment continued (fig 5).

When the braces were removed four permanent E-max crowns were placed on teeth #11 #12  #21 and #22.  The results in (fig. 6), (fig. 7) and (fig. 8) show the final results and the patient ‘s beautiful smile.
