Orthodontics (Braces & Aligners)
Correct and straighten your teeth for the perfect smile
For a lot of people, crowded or crooked teeth are embarrassing, making it difficult to eat, speak or smile. More than a cosmetic issue, crooked teeth can affect one’s confidence, affecting the quality of life of many people both young and adult. In addition to damaging a person’s confidence, ill aligning teeth are at risk of being lost early due to tooth decay and periodontal disease, and cause extra stress on the chewing muscles that can lead to headaches, TMJ syndrome and neck, shoulder and back pain.
Thankfully there are a variety of options available to help correct these problems. Using the latest procedures and technology – including metal and ceramic braces, removable appliances, bite guards and orthodontic retainers – Roomchang’s dentists will give you the smile you desire. Our orthodontists have treated hundreds of cases, each one a personalized treatment plan tailored to the patient specific needs.
Although orthodontic treatment is ideally completed during childhood and adolescence, corrective treatment is often appropriate for adults, too. Roomchang offers a variety of treatment options.
Common Orthodontics Problems
If you have any of the following, you may be a candidate for orthodontic treatment:
- Overbite — Where the upper front teeth lie stick out over the lower teeth
- Underbite — Where the lower teeth are too far forward or the upper teeth too far back
- Crossbite — when the upper teeth do not come down slightly in front of the lower teeth when biting together normally
- Open bite — space between the biting surfaces of the front or side teeth when the back teeth bite together
- Misplaced midline— when the center of the upper front teeth does not line up with the center of the lower front teeth
- Spacing — Gap, or spaces between the teeth due to teeth being too far apart or missing
- Crowding — When there are too many teeth for the jaw to accommodate, leading some to be pushed outwards or inwards
How Does Orthodontic Treatment Work?
Many different types of appliances, both fixed and removable, can be used to help move teeth, retrain muscles and affect the growth of the jaws. These appliances work by placing gentle pressure on the teeth and jaws. Our orthodontists will prepare a treatment plan tailored to your individual case to determine which orthodontic approach is likely to be the most effective.
Types of Treatment
The most common appliance, braces consist of brackets bonded to the front of the tooth and arch wires which passed through the brackets and attached the bands fixed around the teeth. Tightening the arch wire puts tension on the teeth, gradually moving them to their proper position. Braces are adjusted every few weeks to bring the teeth into place, which may take a few months or few years, depending on the severity of the problem. Modern braces are smaller and lighter and use much less metal than in the past, and come in bright colors for kids as well as clear styles preferred by many adults.
A space maintainer is used to keep the space when a baby tooth is lost open until the permanent tooth erupts. A band is attached to the tooth next to the empty space, and a wire is extended to the tooth on the other side of the space.
THE CA® CLEAR ALIGNER SPLINT
Made of clear-transparent material, CA® CLEAR ALIGNER is almost invisible, and you can speak and smile during the treatment period without any difficulty. This guarantees that your mouth will be comfortable – almost like normal.
Gentle and contemporary – The invisible way of teeth correction, aligning teeth with aesthetic high-quality splints is an important therapy in modern orthodontics. Especially for treating adults, this concept has proven successful. It provides optimal treatment results along with a very high level of comfort.
An alternative to traditional braces, aligners sit over the teeth and gradually push the teeth into the desired shape. Aligners are made of clear plastic and are virtually invisible, they are also removable making eating, brushing and flossing teeth much easier. Aligners are becoming a more common treatment option, especially with adults.
Roomchang offers Invisalign braces, which utilise CAD/CAM computer aided design software and manufacturing technology to make a precision appliance.
Invisalign is a nearly invisible replacement treatment for traditional retainers enabling you to straighten your teeth and achieve the smile you’ve always dreamed of. Using advanced 3D computer-imaging technology, Invisalign plans out your complete treatment, from the initial position of your teeth to the final desired position. A series of clear aligners are custom-made for your teeth – and your teeth only – to move them little by little. Each aligner is worn for about two weeks before being replaced by the next in the series, gradually moving towards the projected final position.
Lingual braces are similar to traditional braces, except they are fixed to the rear side of the teeth. This makes them completely invisible, and no-one will be aware you are wearing braces. However, this also makes it more difficult for the orthodontist to adjust, and eating and cleaning are also more difficult than with traditional braces. Despite this, many people choose to take this treatment due to their concealment.
Roomchang uses the Incognito™ brand of lingual braces. These are custom made utilizing advanced computer modeling and visualization software for each patient to maximize comfort and ensure precise results. They are also one of the smallest appliances on the market, minimizing discomfort.
